When you think of baby booster seats, you probably think of the ones you put into your car, or you think of the ones that you get at restaurants so that your younger children can sit up level with the table with the rest of the family. Today, there are new types of seats that you can use in your home for your babies, and they do so much more than just allowing your child to sit a little higher in at the dinner table after they have outgrown the high chair. These are useful for babies as soon as they can sit up with some assistance and can go anywhere you go.

The new baby booster seats are not rigid, at least not all of them are. Some are soft and squashy, yet firm so that they hold up to protect your child. They are formed in a way that allows your child to sit in them securely, yet they are more comfortable than the older style of booster seat. These can be used anywhere in the house, and some come with straps for even more protection. They sit just a few inches from the floor, and can be set on table tops if you wish, though you should never, ever walk away from them if baby is off the floor and in the seat.

Some come with trays that can be added so that baby can have great baby booster seats away from home. You don’t have to worry about using a seat that may have germs on it because it came from your own home. You can take them into restaurants if you wish, or you can take them with you for a short visit with grandma or your week long family vacation. The tray is small, so it is not the best for every day use, but it is a great option when you do not want to and can not take your high chair with you.

You can also find baby booster seats that are made for the car, though these are not new. They are, however, updated and very important. When you child outgrows the traditional car seat, they have to be in booster seats until the age of seven (in some states) so that they are sitting securely and in the right position behind an adult car seat belt. These are nicer than they use to be, and many come with removable and adjustable backs. They often come with cup holders that slide in and out, and comfortable arm rests too.

There are some new baby booster seats that you should use with caution. There are some that sit in the bathtub that you can use when baby needs to sit still and sit up in the water. While these can be helpful, they become dangerous when baby is left alone in the tub with them. Remember that the phone and anything else can wait while baby is in the tub. This is not a lifesaving device. They are as safe as the parent using them, so unless the house is on fire, never leave baby’s side – and even then, of course, you won’t leave your baby there alone!
